Meet the team at Accommodation Windsor Limited.

Say hello to… Lisa Fisher – Lettings Manager

Lisa Fisher

Lisa Fisher

It’s nearly six and a half years ago since I was offered an exciting career change with Accommodation Windsor Limited.  Initially, I had contacted the company for help with short term accommodation whilst I searched for a job locally.  Having spent time visiting friends, I had grown to love Windsor and was keen to relocate.  Whilst I was on the website looking at the gorgeous apartments, I noticed the company was advertising for a Lettings Manager.  A few days after submitting my CV, I was in the office being interviewed and was shown around a couple of fabulous properties that the company managed.  Directors Nigel and Georgia took me out for lunch and over Tapas I was offered the job… I think Nigel had drunk his wine too quickly!  Within the same week I found a great place to rent and all of a sudden my life was heading in a whole new direction.

Over the next few weeks, I had to learn as much as possible about Windsor & Eton and all of the Landlords and their properties so that I was well informed and able to match customers with the right accommodation to suit their needs.  When I first started with the company we had around 25 properties, this has now more than doubled to a portfolio in excess of 60 – ranging from studios to 4-bed houses.  It has been fantastic to be a part of Accommodation Windsor’s growth and see the company develop in every direction; from system development, an ever-expanding team and fabulous property improvements.  Knowing that I have contributed to the growth of the business is also incredibly rewarding.

So what’s next for Accommodation Windsor Limited?  Well, with a refreshing approach to service that brings customers back to stay with us time and time again and with the exciting property improvements currently taking place, I can only envisage the company continuing to grow in an even more corporate, professional and fresh direction.  Within the next year, we will take on new properties, we’ll need bigger offices  and possibly a bigger team too.  I think Accommodation Windsor is a great place to work and the Company is fun and innovative which is why we continue to grow year on year.

National Puppy Day…!

Poor old Ruby Tuesday, New boy Rads is driving her potty!

This Friday 21st March is National Puppy Day… as if we need a special day to celebrate our pampered pooches!  Boo Radley is the latest member of our team having been recently recruited to assist Ruby Tuesday with Security Detail (mainly snoozing in the corner of the office…)  Radley is driving his big sister a little bit potty by chasing her tail and stealing all her favourite toys but we’re sure she’ll have him whipped into shape in no time at all.

Radley is a Dasher (Miniature Schnauzer and Dachshund cross.)  Now 3 months old, Radley has had his jabs and is all signed up ready to start puppy training classes.  He is super cute and can’t wait to start in his new role at Accommodation Windsor Limited (probably) :)

Working in Windsor

David BurianBack in July 2013, I came to Windsor for a job interview.  Coming from Hungary and having lived only in London, I hadn’t heard of Windsor before so I did some internet research about the town prior to the big day.  I read about the attractions, the restaurants, the social life, the transport and from every angle Windsor seemed a great place to live.  However, back then I was more worried about getting the job and not so much about the town.  So when I got off the train at Central Station on the day of the interview, my thoughts were focussed around the upcoming questions and I wasn’t thinking about the town too much.  And yet as I stepped off the train I was amazed.

“How can a train station be so charming? And if the train station is so lovely what should I expect from the town?”

As I left the station I was impressed by Windsor Castle, the charming cobbled streets and shops, by the happy, relaxed people all around me. I loved every little detail: the River Thames, the Windsor Bridge, Peascod Street, the narrow alleyways and Alexandra Gardens. I had a feeling that I had found the perfect place to live! I was so surprised I couldn’t read the map properly (most unlike me) so I had to ask for help to find the way to my interview at Alma House.

Luckily for me it went really well and I was offered the job and asked to move in on the same day.  Since then I have learnt more about the town and I still think Windsor is the greatest place to live.

It was love at first sight!

My role at at the company is very varied; I do a fair bit of cleaning of really fantastic apartments as well as maintenance jobs and looking after guests if they need anything out of office hours. This means I work closely with all of my colleagues from Housekeeping, Maintenance and in the Office too, not just from one Department.  The most exciting parts of my job are that I always can improve my English, learn something new and meet new people every day.  I love to chat with guests about their travelling, impressions of Windsor or our Bed & Breakfast.  A fresh pair of eyes is always helpful and it’s great to share stories and places to visit in this wonderful town.

Meet the Team Video

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zximv0b-XuA]

Recently the team at Accommodation Windsor enjoyed a taste of Hollywood during the making of our first ever “Meet the Team” video filmed and edited by Sam Taylor, the winner of our recent video competition “Destination Windsor”.  We started with an initial brain-storming session, which got us all buzzing with ideas.  After this, we decided to introduce each member of staff by giving a small glimpse of what they do each day, for me this meant a lot of answering the phone, greeting people at the door, doing check-ins and check-outs and taking payments.  It was tiring work but also a lot of fun which reflects exactly what a normal day at Accommodation Windsor Limited is really like.

It was tricky to get all our ideas into such a short, two and a half minute video. We wanted to show all aspects of what we do at work including taking bookings, checking in guests, fighting our way through a mountain of paper work, meeting landlords and purchasing fabulous home furnishings.  Luckily a number of our landlords are also close friends so were happy to help to get stuck in with the filming.

The completed video will be shown to the world via our website and various social media sites.  It was therefore not surprising then that we all came to work on the first day of filming looking our absolute best! The team at Accommodation Windsor Limited have never looked so glamorous.  The filming itself lasted just a few days and was a lot of fun and turned into a great team-building exercise.  The Meet the Team video is a great way to show potential  clients, Landlords and guests how we work together and what kind of a company we are.  We recently used the video to advertise a job vacancy and had such a positive response from candidates who all felt we would be a great company to work for!

Working with Sam on this video has been a pleasure for all of us, he has a very professional and creative attitude which filled us all with energy and enthusiasm. We can’t wait to see the rest of the videos he will be creating for us in the future which will feature a number of our apartments as well as videos on where to eat, drink and shop in Windsor.    A blog by Rosie.

The Making of a Christmas Card

The idea began in 2009, with an eye on world events and a dread of signing hundreds of Christmas cards, we decided to donate our budget for printing corporate cards to charity and send out an E-card instead.  Together with the girls in the office, we donned our sparkliest outfits and popped open some bubbly.  Charles Nicholls – friend, Landlord and keen photographer volunteered to come and take the pics for us.

The following year we asked the Housekeeping Team to join in with the photo, even dressing up Ruby with a big red ribbon.  This year, the team has grown again and some of our Landlords managed to gatecrash the photoshoot too.  We decided to host at our home as a way of saying Thank You to the Team for all their hard efforts throughout the year.

Add in some nibbles and fizzy stuff and the evening took on quite a lively flavour.

As is becoming the trend when we all get together, the Team are keen to share their unique party tricks with their colleagues.  Who knew Rosie (an ex-gymnast and trampolinist) could pick up a Champagne cork from the floor using only her mouth?  Or that several of her colleagues would then be inspired to see if they could too… Or that together, with Nigel leading on the drums, we would so enjoy “performing” (and I use this term loosely) Stevie Wonder tracks in Nigel’s new music studio, despite none of us being able to sing or play any instruments.  (Video footage of this event is currently on lockdown!!)

So the donation we are making this year is to El Rohi Community School in Uganda (the school name comes from the Hebrew for Good Shepherd).  We hope that our small contribution will make a difference to the lives of children much less fortunate than our own.  A friend at our daughter’s school is an airline pilot and she has become involved with the school over in Kampala, dropping off spare clothing and stationery each time she visits.  Food is exhorbitantly expensive in Uganda and  it is a constant dilemma for the Headmistress there to juggle the finances and provide a nutritious meal for the pupils – often the only meal that they will have each day.  We would like to support the school on an ongoing basis so more info to follow in the New Year.

We hope you enjoy our Christmas e-card  and approve of our nominated charity.  We’ve had a lot of fun putting it together and feel proud to have contributed in some small way to help others.

We would like to wish all our Friends, Customers, Landlords and Suppliers the merriest of Christmases and the happiest of New Years!  Visit our Facebook page to see more pics of our photoshoot.

Who Let the Dogs In…?

If you visit Accommodation Windsor Limited here on Alma Road you will find everything you would expect in an office; desks, computers, a photocopier, paperwork… but there is also something (or someone) you probably wouldn’t expect – Ruby the Miniature Schnauzer.

Ruby is 3 years old and comes into the office everyday to play, sleep and greet our customers.  Since moving away from home I have been missing my own dog so it is lovely for me to have Ruby around each day.  She greets everyone with a wagging tail in the morning before snuggling up in her bed for a long morning snooze.  That is until someone opens a package that might be food, then she’s up in a flash to scout out potential treats!

When our customers arrive they are often surprised and delighted to be greeted by Ruby who, although shy at first, loves meeting new people and having a fuss made of her.

It is often late afternoon that Ruby really wakes up and starts investigating what’s going on in her office.  She likes to follow us to the kitchen and investigate the comings and goings at the front door.  This has earned her the respectable title Head of Security.  Having been entrusted with such an important role we thought it was only fair that Ruby featured on the Meet the Team page of our website along with the rest of us.  She is after all a very important member of the team here at Accommodation Windsor Limited ?.
